DIMITAR PASKALEV
Dimitar Paskalev is a Bulgarian architect, lead designer, and researcher with extensive experience in architectural design and urban planning. Since 1996, he has worked on numerous projects in Bulgaria, Qatar, South Korea, and Switzerland. In 2004, he became a partner at Architectonika Studio (www.architectonika.com), and in 2023 he joined UNITED MASTER ARCHITECTS as a partner (umasters.bg).
Over the years, Dimitar has led the architectural concepts and execution of several landmark projects, including the Bellissimo Business Center (2006), Sopharma and Litex Towers (2011), and the Air Traffic Control Tower at Sofia Airport (2012). He has also been leading architect of FPI City Tower (2025), along with many other public building projects.
Alongside his architectural practice, Dimitar is actively engaged in research and innovation in the field of building construction. Between 2013 and 2019, he served as the head of the Institute for Zero Energy Buildings . He led a research team within the international Horizon 2020 project INDEWAG (www.indewag.eu), focused on developing innovative façade systems, and another Horizon 2020 project – SDH2PM – dedicated to transferring solar district heating technologies to Bulgaria. Dimitar is also the holder of four registered patents related to building innovation.
His innovative work includes the realization of an experimental so called Warer-Flow façade for the Qatar Green Building Council in Doha (2016), as well as leading the design, delivery, and installation of an innovative glass roof for the Qatar Business Incubation Center in the same year. In 2019, he directed the development of a demonstration pavilion featuring water-flow façade technologies located on the premises of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

2018 – 1st Prize at the European Solar District Heating Conference in Graz for innovative work on seasonal thermal storage
2019 – 2nd Prize, Competition for the New Building of the Medical University, Sofia
2023 – ARCHINOVA 2023: Winner in “Public Building Projects” category for Blagoevgrad Tech Park
2024 – Building of the Year 2023: 1st Prize in “Urban Development Projects” category for the Blagoevgrad Farmers’ Market
